Poonam Bajwa is a popular Indian actress, who predominantly appears inTamil, Malayalam and Telugu films.

Early life[edit]

A Punjabi by birth, she was born in Mumbai to Amarjith Singh, a naval officer and Deepika Singh, a housewife. She has a younger sister, Daya.[1][2] She was crowned Miss Pune in 2005 and after which she started modeling part-time while studying. When she went to Hyderabad for a ramp show, the director of Mudati spotted her and asked her if she was interested in films. She had finished her 12th then and had a five-month gap before college and hence agreed to star in his film.[3] She pursued degree in Literature from SIMC, Pune.

Career[edit]

She made her acting debut in the 2005 Telugu film Modati Cinema, following which she appeared in several Telugu films, including Boss opposite Nagarjuna and Bhaskar's Parugu. She debuted in Tamil in 2008 with the Hari-directed masala filmSeval and subsequently starred in Thenavattu and Kacheri Arambam, both co-starring Jeeva, and Drohi next project with new director,Praveen Tribiyani,and also played rolls with megastar Mammootty and Mohanlal.acted in Chinatown malayalam movie as Emily,starring Mohanlal,Dileep,Jayaram,Suraj Venjaramood,Kavya Madhavan, and Directed by Rafi Mecartin.
