Suchitra Pillai, is an Indian actress, model, anchor, and VJ born in 1960. A graduate in electronic engineering, she chose a career in arts over engineering.[2] Apart from roles in movies including Dil Chahta Hai (2001), Page 3(2005), Laaga Chunari Mein Daag (2007), and Fashion (2008), Suchitra is a singer in the Indi pop and rock genre with an album Such is Life released in 2011 [3] She is also an accomplished theater artiste.

Film career[edit]

While in school in Mumbai, Pillai was very much interested in theatre but she graduated in electronic engineering. She left for London soon after, where she became involved in children's theatre.[3] She started acting in movies in 1993 when she was offered her first role in a French film Le prix d'une femme as well as a role in the English film Guru in Seven.
Pillai then returned to Mumbai and was offered the job as a veejay. She first appeared in a music video by Apache Indian and then in Bally Sagoo's "Dil cheez hai kya" video. She has also forayed into television with shows likeSimply South, Red Alert, Hip_Hip_Hurray, Beintehaa,Rishta.com and Cabaret Cabaret. Pillai will be seen in 2016 in the Hollywood film The Other Side of the Door, co-starring Sarah Wayne Callis and Jeremy Sisto.[4]

Personal life[edit]

In 2006, Suchitra married Lars Kjeldsen, an engineer from Denmark.[5] They met at dinner at a common friend's house. They have a daughter Annika, born in 2008.[5]

Dubbing career[edit]

In 2007, she was given the opportunity to dub-over a role in the Hindi dubbed version of American movie, Live Free or Die Hard, which it's her first film that she dubbed. She gave her Hindi-dubbing voice to Maggie Q's role as Mah Linh, while Mohan Kapoor who is an Indian actor and anchor, has given his Hindi-dubbing voice to Bruce Willis's role as John McClane, the main protagonist.[6]
