Short biography
Aruna Irani was born on 3rd May 1952 in Bombay, Maharashtra state. She started her film career as a child artist and made her debut in 1961 through Bollywood film Gunga Jumna. Since her debut she worked for more than 300 movies and numerous Television shows.
She gained recognition after appearing in Bollywood film Caravan in 1971, for which she received nomination for Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her performance. She subsequently appeared in numerous commercial hits like Farz co-starring Jeetendra and Babita, Bobby co-starring Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Prem Nath, Fakira co-starring Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Danny Dengzongpa, Sargam co-starring Rishi Kapoor, Jaya Prada and Shakti Kapoor, Love Story alongside Kumar Gaurav, Vijayta Pandit and Danny Denzongpa , Rocky, Beta, among other films.
Apart from films she also worked for Television shows like Sanskaar – Dharohar Apno Ki, Parichay — Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka, Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, Dekha Ek Khwaab etc. She also ventured into direction and production through tele-serials like Mehndi Tere Naam Ki, Rabba Ishq Na Hove, Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Vaidehi etc.
